Shiny Living Dex (221-230)

I’m back with another installment of the Shiny Living Dex. Since I am trying to speed things along, I am continuing to do outbreak resets each day. However, I don’t force it and if I can’t find something that morning then it is what it is. Now, let’s begin.

Number 221

We won’t be starting out with an outbreak for this first one. Instead, I am doing some good old method hunting. Specifically, the isolated encounter method. Since my fire-type sandwiches haven’t worked at all with Flareon, I figured maybe I would use them for something else for a change. It turned out to be the right call as I managed to get lucky with a fire sandwich for once and found a blue Rolycoly in the wild. You know, now that I think about it, blue seems to be the second most common shiny color after pink. Not that I’m complaining. Just noticed that is all.

Now I thought I would do another isolated encounter hunt. This time I wanted to hunt for a Pokémon that I probably should’ve tried to hunt a long time ago. Somehow I just remembered it recently and realized it would be an easy hunt so I figured I’d catch it. Maybe it was because of getting both Toxtricity forms that I realized I need a pink Toxel to complete the line. It only took one poison encounter sandwich to find it. I thought it wouldn’t stand out that much but the pink really pops on this one.

Number 223

Now I managed to luckily get an outbreak this morning after a couple of resets. To my surprise, it happened to be for an Eeveelution that I didn’t have. For those wondering the term Eeveelution simply means an evolution of the Pokémon Eevee. The one that appeared was Jolteon, one of the original three Eeveelutions alongside Vaporeon and Flareon. Now this was my first good opportunity at a new Eeveelution in months so there was no way I could pass it up. Thankfully, I wasn’t made to wait too long as a green Jolteon eventually appear from within the hoard. I thought I might miss it because I wasn’t sure how close the green was to the original yellow, but like usual it was a needless worry.

Number 224

You know, I think I was just influenced by the fact that I just got a shiny electric Pokémon. So, I went for another one. So I went to the autumn forest to try and find myself a Raichu. I’ll be honest and say that I was a little worried this time. The shiny colors are easy to distinguish. Raichu is normally yellow but it becomes red when it becomes shiny. The thing I was worried about was the combination of the autumn environment and lighting would cause me to overlook it. Once again, I shouldn’t have been that worried. Even though it was in the shade, I managed to see it was different from a normal Raichu. I really have to stop worrying so much during these hunts.

Number 225

Another day means another attempt at an outbreak reset. Would I get anything good this time? Yes. I somehow got a Houndoom outbreak. I jumped on that real quick. It has a cool blue shiny color and this was probably my best opportunity for this Pokémon. So, I spent the morning looking for it until it finally spawned. It didn’t take very long and thankfully it stands out so it was an easy catch.

Number 226

This Pokémon took way longer than I thought it would. There are a lot of ice types on the mountain, but not all of them have dual types so they can be tricky to hunt outside of outbreaks. However, this particular Pokémon has dual typings and yet despite a decent spawn rate, it was so stubborn with showing up. The day I finally found this shiny Pokémon it took me three grass boost sandwiches before I found it and it was at the last second of the third sandwich. For that reason when shiny Snover finally appeared she looked glorious in her blue and yellow color scheme. So glad I finished that hunt. Let’s head back to outbreaks.

Number 227

The next day I managed to get lucky in the morning again with another new outbreak. This time it was for the Pokémon Houndstone. I will be fully transparent and say that I was wrong about what this shiny looked like. I thought it was more subtle in its presentation, but it is actually very noticeable since the fur is completely brown instead of white. I don’t know why I thought it was different. Funnily enough, the outbreak dispersed on me at one point while hunting. Thankfully I have learned by now to always save before a new outbreak so I reset the game to hunt for it again. Thankfully I didn’t run into any more problems and found it after a few more minutes.

Number 228

I decided to go for another grass type that I had been after for some time. Since I had already acquired a Toedscruel through sheer luck, I still needed a Toedscool to complete the line. So I used a ground boost sandwich to find myself a fast, white squid running through the forest. I took a couple of sandwiches as it always seems to these days. Eventually, I managed to spot it standing proud in the crowd. It did try to run away, but thankfully my legendary ride Pokémon is faster than it.

Number 229

I was feeling lucky. I thought that maybe I should go for another target. This was another Pokémon that I wanted for a little while. Back in the day, I couldn’t succeed in successfully finding it in an outbreak and I always regretted it. Today, I wanted to claim it. So I went to the beach to hunt for a Wugtrio. Shiny Wugtrio is another nice blue shiny color with a golden nose, which happens to be the reverse color palette of its previous form, shiny Wiglett. Once again it took multiple sandwiches since the first one only gave me some repeats. However, I got it ten minutes after starting the second water-boosted sandwich. A good hunt to end the day on.

Number 230

Our last entry for this time is another one from getting lucky with outbreak resets in the morning. It was for the Pokémon Beartic. This shiny isn’t as purple as I would like it to be, but the purple tint is enough to distinguish it from the normal form. It didn’t take too long to find. It was just a couple of hours before I spotted it. Honestly, I have been getting so lucky with these outbreaks being evolved forms that are difficult to find. I might actually get close to finishing the dex by the end of the summer if this keeps up.

That does it for this installment. Hopefully, I can get the next one out faster. I have the shiny Pokémon already. I am just running behind on actually recording them all. Here’s hoping that the next one will be done sometime this week. See you next time!
