The Switch Isn’t Dead Yet

I just wanted to spend some time talking about the latest Nintendo Direct. I do not think that most people, myself included, were expecting so many big titles to be revealed in this showcase. I mean we opened up with a brand new game in the Mario and Luigi series which is a series I thought wasn’t coming to the Switch, to be honest. I am happy to be proven wrong though. We have been having it pretty good with JRPGs lately and this was just the appetizer to all of the crazy stuff that was being showcased. I will admit that I have never finished any of the Mario and Luigi games. I’m sorry. I have no excuse. Maybe this will be the exception though. Who’s to say?

One thing I really have to talk about is the new Zelda game since it actually features Zelda as the heroine of the story. You know, I’m pretty sure this is the first time in history that Zelda is playable in a mainline title in the series. That is crazy to think about, but this game is looking to be very interesting since Zelda looks as though she is getting her own class to play around with in the game. The fact that they decided to make her a summoner is so cool and I think these puzzles are about to go crazy. And by that I mean since there are multiple approaches to a problem, I will always inadvertently choose the most difficult way. Don’t be mad, but I will probably beat this game before touching The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Let’s get excited.

However, the craziest reveal was definitely at the end. You know what I’m talking about. Truth be told, I thought Metroid Prime 4 wasn’t coming to Switch. I thought that it was doomed to fade into obscurity. However, I was shut up. They showed us actual bona fide uncut gameplay for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. What a time to be a Metroid fan. You already know that I am playing the heck out of that game. It honestly looks like one of the best-running Switch games I’ve seen in recent years. They look like they are pulling out all the stops for this one. I appreciate knowing that if we are going out, we are going out with a bang! I’m so happy right now. What a time to be alive.
