I have spent a lot of the last few months hunting for shiny Pokémon in different games, just because it is fun to just casually hunt sometimes. I wouldn’t necessarily say I am trying for a Shiny Living Dex, but if I count how many unique shiny Pokémon I have in each game, I have half of the Pokémon I need to complete one. Some of them have been randomly obtained and some have been specifically targeted. Skitty is a Pokémon that falls into both categories.
You see, my first shiny Skitty wasn’t targeted and was just a random spawn from my daily incense in Pokémon Go. I was surprised that it felt more subtle than I remembered, but I will never say no to a free shiny Pokémon. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be very likely that I would be able to get both of them in Pokémon Go. Skitty wasn’t as common of spawn for me to find multiple within a short timeframe. At least, that’s what I thought, but I was actually wrong. It took me a month to get a second one and complete the line. Sometimes my luck is just wild.
Now, I should end the story here, since I now have both Skitty and Delcatty in their shiny forms. However, that title is misleading. I didn’t stop at two. As it turns out, Skitty can appear in swarms in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. The next day after I completed the Skitty line, I got a swarm of them in Pokémon Shining Pearl and I thought fate is cruel sometimes. However, I was having bad luck with PokéRadar lately so I just went crazy at any swarm that appeared. Was it necessary? No. Was it successful? Yes. Do I regret anything? Nope. I ended up with ten extra shiny Skitty just for the heck of it. I have no idea what I am going to do with them all, but I guess I don’t need to worry about this Pokémon ever again.
This was just a fun little story of how within a month I managed to complete a shiny line unexpectedly and the next day found a whole litter more. Whether the Skitty shined in Pokémon Shining Pearl or Pokémon Go wasn’t important. What matters is that I am on my way to being the very best that no one ever was. Okay, that was pretty cheesy, but I didn’t want to resort to a cat pun at the end. That would have felt unpurrfessional. Ignore that. Have a good night!
