Wardrobe Changes In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

I bought Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door last weekend and I have been playing it obsessively over the past week. Some past viewers may remember that I was very excited for this to come out, so finally playing feels so fulfilling. I have made some good progress with the game, but I haven’t quite finished it yet. I still have at least one chapter to go, but I still wanted to talk about it this week so here I go. Since I didn’t want to dive too deep into any spoilers, I figured I would talk about a couple of harmless secrets you might be interested in. It turns out that you can change your outfit in the game. There are three potential outfits you can choose from: Luigi’s look, Wario’s look, and Waluigi’s look. While it does require a little sniffing around to get each outfit, it isn’t anything too difficult to do so I figured I would share what you need to do. So without further ado, let’s-a go!

Wario Badge

Let’s start with the Wario badge. A strange merchant appears in town selling random wares such as rare badges and items as early as the end of Chapter Two. Personally, I can’t remember if he showed up before that, but I know he is there after that point. The reason I know for sure is because I bought the W Emblem from him which is a 0 BP that when equipped allows you to wear a Wario outfit. I believe his badges are all a bit expensive, but I think it is worth it. Just remember that his stock isn’t always the same so you may have to check in with him every now and then to see if he sells it. As far as I know, this is the only way to get the badge, but I could be wrong. However, this means you can change costumes as early as Chapter Three which is kind of cool. I know I was wearing that outfit for quite a while.

Luigi Badge

The second customization badge is the L Emblem which allows you to transform into your brother Luigi’s outfit. This one took some time to find since it wasn’t available to me until the end of Chapter Six. Without giving too much away here, I will tell you where you can find it. When you get to the room with all of the Dark Boos right near the end of the chapter, the badge is hidden all the way at the top of the room on the left side. So make sure to grab it before proceeding forward. That should be enough of a hint for you to find it. Good luck! once again this badge is 0 BP to equip so dress at your leisure.

Waluigi Badge?

So this one is actually a bit of a strange case. You see, the Waluigi outfit does not actually come from a badge. It actually comes from two badges. Specifically, the previous badges that we mentioned. When you equip both the Luigi Emblem and the Wario Emblem badges, your outfit changes into the Waluigi outfit instead. It kind of makes sense when you think about it since Waluigi is Luigi’s Wario equivalent. This is definitely both the easiest and most difficult costume to get as it requires both previous badges but doesn’t require anything special other than that as an unlock requirement. The purple is worth it though.

That’s about it for the costumes. I don’t believe there are any others to collect, but my memory is a bit hazy since I haven’t played this game in ten years. Hopefully, this will be useful to you if you ever decide to accessorize during your playthrough. This wasn’t exactly meant to be a rigorous guide because I did want to avoid spoiling too much since this game is a wild time that everyone should enjoy experiencing on their own. However, I wanted to talk about it a bit, so I kept things simple. good luck to anyone playing and I hope you all have a great night!

Nothing much to say. Just a guy who enjoys talking about games and has too much free time on his hands.
