PokéRadar Problems

Hey everyone. Due to reasons, yesterday I wasn’t in a space to form any coherent sentences, but now I am feeling much better. So, now let’s talk about that little mini rant I promised you. This rant is regarding PokéRadar chaining in Pokémon Shining Pearl. Now you may not be aware, but chaining in this game isn’t exactly easy. In fact, I can count on my hand the amount of times I have a good chain. However, there is some fun in it which is why I continue to do it. Especially since it feels less tedious than some of my other hunts at the moment. However, there is a big exception to this. There is one Pokémon that has been toying with me for the longest time and that is Nidoran. Now you might be wondering what I am talking about. After all, I showed off getting some shiny Nidoran in a previous post. Well, as I mentioned back then this Pokémon is a bit special since it has two different evolution lines depending on whether it is the male or female variant. It turns out that the male variant is much more common in this game while the female is much more common in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond. With all that in mind, I swear that female Nidoran hates me. Each time I finally get it in the chain, it doesn’t last for more than a few checks before the chain breaks. Every. Single. Time. Nothing like my luck with the male variant. Not at all.

This chain has been the most consistently broken one since I started chaining. This thing has the gall to hide from me in the random patches of grass and then dip without even getting to know me first. Like what did I do for it to hate me? You would think I was holding its family hostage or something. Well, I get that shiny male Nidoran does kind of look like the female, but that shouldn’t count. Do you want to know something absurd? I am not trying to get an insane high chain like I did with Skitty. I don’t think that is in the cards. However, I at least want to attempt the seventeen method by encountering seventeen of them without the chain breaking on me again. That would at least put me at half-odds. I can’t even get that. Do you want to know something even funnier? If you don’t, too bad. In the process of hunting for just one shiny female Nidoran, I have found five shiny Pokémon at full odds. Two Starly and three Bidoof are what I have to show for this hunt right now. I am on phase six trying to get to a chain of seventeen. WHY? It is starting to get to the point where I’m wondering if it would be faster to play through Pokémon Brilliant Diamond instead of sticking to hunting like this. I’m not quite there yet, but boy is the game not making this easy on me.

I know that I have to get at least three of these to be done, but at this point, I would be okay with just one so I could at least see a different route for the hunt. However, who knows when that will be. I just have to be patient because when this game decides to be generous, it is quite kind to me. Anyway, have a good night. That should hopefully be more readable than what I attempted to type up last night. I’ll sleep on it. See you Sunday. Unless my brain stops working again. Bye!
